KJ Mission to Poland - July 10 - 17

Dear KJ Family,

I invite you to join me this summer for the KJ/Ramaz Educational Mission to Poland, which is an inspiring, life-changing one-week journey to the past. It explores the 1,000 years of Polish Jewish history leading up to the Holocaust; and it offers an in-depth educational tour of the Warsaw Ghetto, Auschwitz, and other critical Holocaust sites.

That alone makes the trip remarkable. But beyond the touring, we will also have meaningful meetings. We will have a chance to visit with members of the reborn Polish Jewish community that has emerged after the Holocaust and half a century of Communism. I am currently working to arrange meetings with Jewish leaders, diplomats and politicians, to speak to our group about Polish-Jewish relations.

Our guide is Dr. David Bernstein, a former Ramaz Upper School faculty member, who is a historian and the Dean Emeritus of Pardes. David is an exceptional educator, and has led multiple KJ/Ramaz missions in the past; the breadth of his historical knowledge of the Holocaust, religious spirit, and profound sensitivity will undoubtedly greatly enhance the mission.

This will be my sixth mission to Poland; this trip has great personal meaning for me, being the child of a survivor of Auschwitz. And for all of us, this will be more than an ordinary trip; it will be a tribute to the Jewish spirit, a declaration that am Yisrael chai, the Jewish people lives on.

We are excited that the trip is being organized and run by JRoots, an educational organization with an enormous amount of experience organizing Jewish trips around the world, and over 30 years of experience running trips in Poland. This mission is intended to nurture the soul, but we have done everything to ensure that the touring, accommodations, and catering will be of the highest quality as well.

The mission costs $4,750, double occupancy, excluding airfare. To book your place on this mission, please click here. Attached is a draft outline of the itinerary; this will be updated again before the trip once finalized. Also attached is a short fact sheet about the Mission.

If you have questions about whether or not this is the right journey for you, I would be happy to discuss it with you directly. For further information about the details of the tour, you can email Liane Genish at liane@jroots.org.

Sincerely,

Chaim Steinmetz
