KJ/Ramaz Mission to Vienna & Budapest 2018

DAILY ITINERARY HERE

Dear KJ/Ramaz Family:

Join me on a KJ/Ramaz educational mission to Vienna and Budapest, during the week of August 5-12

We will be visiting Vienna and Budapest, two cities whose intellectual and cultural output continue to exert a profound influence on the Jewish world. We will learn about the lives of diverse figures such as Rabbi Yom Tov Lipman Heller (the “Tosafot Yom Tov”), Sigmund Freud, Rabbi Moshe Sofer (the “Chatam Sofer”), Theodore Herzl, and Raoul Wallenberg, exploring their priceless contributions to the rich fabric of modern Jewish life. We will learn about all of the major topics in Modern Jewish History, including Zionism, Reform, Ultra-Orthodoxy, Emancipation, Anti-Semitism, and the Holocaust. We will visit some of the most remarkable sights in Central Europe, including historic squares and monuments, opera houses, palaces, parks, museums and synagogues. We will encounter renowned gems including the Ringstrasse, the Museum Judenplatz, the Stadttempel, the Grasalkovitch Palace, Budapest’s National Gallery, the Great Synagogue, and the ancient Jewish Quarter, among many more sites. Equally important will be visits with inspiring local community and rabbinic leaders, elected officials, and Israeli diplomats. This mission will be a unique experience that will both challenge your intellect and touch your soul.

Dr. David Bernstein, Dean of the Pardes Institute in Jerusalem, will be our traveling scholar. I had the privilege of traveling with David to Poland, and he is one of the most exceptional mission educators I have ever encountered. He knows to convey profound information clearly, and he opens participants’ eyes to the larger historical themes. Dr. Bernstein started his career at Ramaz where he created the Integrated Jewish and General World History course. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in History and a Ph.D. in Religious Education from New York University, and he has inspired hundreds of people in the KJ/Ramaz community on previous missions to Poland.

We are certain that this educational mission will be an absolute inspiration, a trip unlike any other. Because this is the first time that KJ/Ramaz is sponsoring a mission to these two capital cities, we anticipate that the limited space will rapidly fill up. For details and registration information, please see the enclosed. To secure your spot, please complete the one-page Registration Form and send it to KJ Executive Director Leonard Silverman accompanied by your non-refundable deposit.  To join me, click the below "REGISTRATION" button. Questions can be posed to KJ Executive Director Leonard Silverman.
